Don't Let Anyone Smear Truth

Be The First To Comment
A watered down spiritual message is just as adulterated as one that is contaminated with artificial spiritual thickener.

Effective meditation does not replace our present recovery with anything new but it does allow it to come alive - without feeding us 'improvements' or 'additives'.

The meditation is a simple opening of the mind through the technique suggested that allows truth to enter the psyche without anyone pushing it in, and without anyone's greasy fingerprints all over it.

This meditation will automatically and effortlessly bring us to a place where our request for God inspiration and intuitive thought is answered. The answer is "Yes".

After being freed in this manner we lose our reliance upon people or books or hypno-suggestive thought implants (mantras, platitudes, slogans). Also gone is that odd egotistical craving to replace objectionable old thought with newer, 'better' ones. No matter how “spiritual” or inspired we feel those new thought or ‘teachings’ to be, like geographic cures, such spiritual 'geographics' are just as useless in the long run. (Those who are frequently relied upon and looked up to will likely disagree vehement with this – Beware. Watch them closely!)

There are several metaphysical reasons for this. But it is enough to realize that truly spiritual humans are spiritual because they have leaned to NOT do exactly what YOU are trying to do, each time you access them in order to willfully and faithlessly influence an outcome through some form of human propulsion. Since it isn’t self propulsion, you have been told it’s OK.

It is not OK.

It is represents faith in man and not faith in God. But unfortunately some many of us never fully pursue an effective Step Eleven lifestyle – or else mesmerize ourselves with pantheistic spirituality and are unable to break free of our reliance upon things human. It will kill us.

Truly spiritual people will not allow you attach to them for long if at all, but will instead redirect and guide you to their source of guidance: God.

They have learned to place reliance, not upon others but instead to rely upon God.
They have taken that leap of faith already and are more likely to steer you away from them and to God for guidance and not allow you to adhere to them.

Faux spiritualists and those addicted to control and self–reliance may have all the right spiritual buzzwords and make pleasant spiritual noises but will be more apt to have you “call me” for guidance to give you ‘support' and 'comfort' in your times of doubt and faithlessness. In that way they become your god and neither of you even know it – except that you have no real faith and life remains one big string of indecision, doubts and worry indicated by continued bedevilments.

This is why the co-founder of “Alcoholics Anonymous told us that,
“In thinking about our day we may face indecision. We may not be able to determine which course to take. Here we relax and take it easy. We don't struggle. We are often surprised how the right answers come after we have tried this for a while."

The reality is that God doesn’t ‘
speak’ through anyone. Anyone who tells you otherwise is seriously misguided and trying to mislead.
God speaks to us directly through our inner understanding and not other people, can be hard pill for egotistic folks to swallow.
This can be especially difficult for those of us who have already been plugged into addictive relationships with sponsors, codependents, gurus, and book authors for great lengths of ‘sober’ time. For most of them it means that they really have had nothing worthwhile to say all along -- nor have they been listening to much worthwhile either.

Ouch! What a blow. How hard that would be to face.

Transferring reliance away from ‘self’ is necessary and certainly commendable. It is a Twelve Step Principle. But the full objective of the move is to get it off self but onto God. Unfortunately many of us never get to the God part and instead transfer our reliance to other human beings creating sick, parasitical relationships with them, all under the guise of a spiritual endeavor.

You will never find happiness, joy or freedom as long as you have transferred reliance upon 'self' to reliance upon people - instead of God.
As despicable and deadly as retooling and perverting of AA’s "this" message is -- ramping it up and trying to make it do things it was not designed to do is even more sly and more cunning. It is a kind of atrocity that has become very prevalent, even in "12 step" circles - and there seems to be no shortage of folks to join in.

Of course most of us cannot see this because we haven’t an effective method of establishment conscious contact with God to help maintain our clear vision. We think we do. Purveyors of various religious theories and spiritual movements have told us we have. But in reality we are too wrapped up in seeking outcomes and engaging in all sorts of mental distractions that mimic spiritual centering of the mind but are really just hypnotic placebos designed to enslave us to someones control, whether it be a sponsor, a movement, a book-club or even a religion.
The telling revelation is that we are still subject to anxiety, depression, fear and hosts of physical and emotional ailments all of which emanate out of our emotional states.
If you use the meditation technique above, you will not need to be involved with that stuff anymore. You won't be confused about how to 'fit' spiritual concepts into your life so as to install your own happiness because you will see that truth is already inside. The sound and sane principles in your Big Book will come alive and you won't have to constantly struggle through its text to see if and where the Steps can be stretched to fit foreign theories.

The '"Aha!" begins and never stops; not even in your sleep. The Principles in your Big Book and even in your Scripture will begin to make sense to you like they never have before, without anyone telling you what those writings mean - and you will find the peace of spirit you have always known existed. Finally.

"When These Crop Up"

Be The First To Comment

“Life is a carnival, believe it or not", as the song goes - and we all have ringside seats to the circus that is our lives. It is quite a show although some of it isn’t very funny. Each of us moves through time and space to experience, the continuous stream of events. We make observations and have experiences with them.

Not everything happens within our field of vision. Most of it is beyond the reach of our eyes and still affects us even though we may not actually be aware of their causes. The effects and causes that are within our vision, that touch us in ways we are conscious of, we think of as 'our lives'. Regardless of our awareness of happenstances, in or out of our field of vision - all of it affects the world in which we live – and therefore, in some way, it affects us.

Not all of what goes on in the world is good. So let’s look at some of this ‘bad stuff”. What exactly am I talking about? (The good stuff isn't what is troubling, is it?)
People are unthinking and they step on our toes causing us harms - real or imagined. They lie. They cheat. They steal. They are rude. They make mistakes - even as we make mistakes - unintentionally and sometimes they might even do it on purpose.
Our human senses - sight, sound, smell and yes, even the stores of memories and our imagination delivers events, many of which can be hostile to our sensibilities.
We begin to process this information in order to respond to it.

Each day, from the moment our feet hit the floor until the second we fall sleep at night, our entire existence runs like a film strip stringing together frames of events, situations and encounters with people – and some of the scenes in the movie are just plain wrong.

In the magnificent spiritual text, story and prayer book, “Alcoholics Anonymous: The Story of How Many Thousands of Men and Women Have Recovered from Alcoholism” the co-authors and co-founders of the spiritual fellowship taking its name from the same volume, tell us that practitioners of the Twelve Step lifestyle should continuously be on watch for the effects that negative forces in the world have on us. Selfishness, dishonesty, resentment, and fear are specifically mentioned. That means that seeing is not only permissible – but it is a direction.

They do not tell us to resist these things. They wisely suggest quite the contrary. “Watch” they tell us. They were smart to suggest this.

Watching, seeing, and being aware – all suggest that these things are not to be ignored. When we ignore, run from, or in any way suppress these thing we always end up allowing them to crop up and overwhelm us.
When this happens, we know what it is to be cut off from the Sunlight of the Spirit. We become rudderless.

We are to watch which means that is OK to see them. They are there. Ignoring negative emotional forces is foolish. That is why this mediation never suggests that thoughts be supplanted or replaced with ‘better’, less objectionable ones.

What we do when we meditate is watch for these things with purpose. The purpose is to remain in the conscious, aware state - as these negative forces wax and wane, never overtaking us – always on the doorstep to the psyche and yet not cropping up inside us, on our side of the threshold, less and less as we develop more and more resiliency.

Awareness becomes our armor. It is an effortless protector allowing us to bounce back from the barrage of psychic attack that is life itself. We live unscathed by the intelligent adversity trying to kill us and spread its confusion through us.

When we have this protection of awareness we find that we do not fear these negative forces. The foundation of courage is faith through awareness which displaces all fear.

So we watch and we see. We begin to see resentment and all negative thought and emotion for the foreign substances they are.
